How to find us
St Hilda's church
Travelling by Bus: The number 6 bus can be caught in the City Centre from Rougier Street, near the railway station, or from the Stonebow. The nearest bus stop to the church is at the top end of Alcuin Avenue (closest to Tang Hall Lane). As you get off the bus, the church is directly opposite you with the Church and Vicarage next door to each other.
Travelling by Car: St.Hilda’s can be best reached by either travelling from the City Centre via Heworth, turning towards Melrosegate, and then driving left down Tang Hall Lane at the mini roundabout and following the road. St Hilda’s church is situated on the left hand side of the road just after the parade of shops.
You can also reach St Hilda's Church travelling on the Hull Road (A1079), and turning right at the Tang Hall Lane junction. The church is on the right, at the junction with St. Hilda's Mews.
St. Lawrence’s church
The driveway to St. Lawrence church is located on Lawrence Street, 100 metres away from Walmgate Bar, opposite the Lawrence Street Working Men’s Club. But the church itself is set way back from the road, on nearly three acres of tree filled lawn. When the trees are in leaf, the huge church can be nearly invisible from the road! Look for the church hall which is right on the roadside, and the church sign.
Travelling by Car: Travel into York on the Hull Road (A1079), and come all the way down almost to the city walls at Walmgate Bar. After the James Street traffic lights, the church grounds are immediately to your left.
